So you are ready to build your dream custom home, but there is one pesky problem…you need to kick up the curb appeal of your existing home for a quick sale.
First impressions can make or break your chance to quickly sell your home profitably. Curb appeal undeniably makes a difference. It draws prospective buyers attention and improves the desirability of your home.
An attractive driveway and well manicured landscaping can really help with that initial impression. But there are more things you can do to kick up the curb appeal to sell your existing home.
Kick Up The Curb Appeal Checklist
- Give the Front Entrance a makeover: Clean the front door and remove clutter like furniture and pots while you give the porch and entry a deep cleaning. Repaint or touch up as needed. Consider bright contrasting color to give the door life. Polish the knobs and fixtures. Now return or add a seating area and place a nice planted pot on either side of the door.
- Repaint The Exterior: If your home is ready for a paint refresh, don’t skimp on this. A new coat of paint will really pump up your curb appeal.
- Put In Colorful Landscaping: Plant or pot colorful flowers. Bougainvillea or other colorful plants can really brighten the curb appeal of your home.
- Edge the Garden: Add an attractive border to your garden beds and pathways. Stone, concrete, wood, brick or metal edging all will provide a clean, professional appearance and definitely pump up your curb appeal.
- Improve Your Lawn: Edge and mow the lawn. Fill in any thin grass with new sod or plugs. Have the lawn brightened with proper fertilizer and put down weed control.
- Clean and Repair Paving: Patch and repair your paving. Fill concrete cracks, apply a coat of sealer if you have asphalt or add a fresh layer of gravel on your driveway and pathways.
- Clean Windows: It may seem obvious, but all too often windows are left unattended. Make sure before you put your home on the market that your windows sparkle inside and out.
- Attend to Your Roof: If your roof needs a cleaning, don’t overlook this. Replace any broken or missing shingles or tiles and give the roof a good cleaning. Be sure to cover plants and water thoroughly afterwords if you use a commercial cleaning company to do the work.
- Install or repair Outdoor Lighting: Path lighting is a surefire, inexpensive upgrade that will give a lift to your curb appeal and its easy to do yourself. Install a low wattage system or a solar system. While you are at it, be sure to replace any home, garage or exterior flood lights.
